Joining Stratford-upon-Avon Choral Society
We welcome new singers in every part of the choir, and we are particularly keen to enlarge our Tenor and Bass sections. This page tells you about how to join as a singer.
We prefer new singing members to join the Society at the start of the rehearsals for one of our concerts. This is in September for our November concert, in November for our Christmas concert, and in January for our March concert.
If you are interested in joining the choir you can call our Membership Secretary, Carol Jackson (contact details below), or just complete the application form and send it to her. Click the button below to download the form, fill in your details, and send it to her by email or by post.
You do not need to be a wonderful singer to be able to take part in and enjoy our concerts, but you should have some experience of singing and be able to read music. New members are asked to attend an audition with our Music Director which is largely to ensure you are in the right section of the choir. If you have any concerns about the audition or about your abilities then please discuss it with our memebership secretary.
The choir rehearses at St Andrew's Chuch, Church Lane, Shottery on Mondays from 7.30 pm to 9.15 pm from early September to late March.
Once you are a member of the choir, you will need to pay a subscription and hire or buy music for the current concert. The annual subscription rate is £120 and is due at the first rehearsal in September. The choir's librarian organises music for hire and you will be asked to pay £2 per item for music rental, or you can buy your own copy.
Concessionary rates for students and young people
You must be 16 or over to join the choir. We offer a reduced rate of subscription of £25 for those aged 25 and under, and free membership to full-time students 25 and under. We also offer two student scholarships per year which provide free membership and singing lessons.
To join, please fill in the Application form. If you have any questions please call our Membership Secretary, Carol Jackson, on 01386 841 440 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
